Question Types
This graphic organiser enables teachers to encompass a Piagetian teaching approach in regards to questioning. Because Piaget focuses on stages of development, this graphic organiser mirrors this. It has four stages of questioning skills that progress to a higher order of thinking.
The teaching tool allows educators to “facilitate learning by using familiar examples to explain complex ideas” (Vialle, Lysaght & Verenikina, 2005).
Using the Questioning Types tool effectively enabled teachers to give “students the opportunities to classify & group information, use outlines & hierarchies to facilitate assimilation of new information with previously learned knowledge” (Vialle, Lysaght & Verenikina, 2005).
